We'd like to consult local women and ethnic minority groups (no matter how long you've been here or how recently you've joined the community), to see what the Southside means to you, and what an accessible and representative archive on local heritage might look like. So come along for a chat and a cup of tea! If you are happy to bring an object, photo, or any material that makes you think of local memories, please bring it along and share your thoughts, local knowledge, and memories with us!
Loved and Lost: Govanhill’s Built Heritage Book launch and exhibition
Govanhill Baths Community Trust launches a book exploring and celebrating some of the buildings in and around Govanhill where people lived, worked, learned, relaxed, played and worshipped. Bruce Downie, its author, provides a talk on the buildings of social, cultural and industrial significance, giving insights into how the built environment shaped Govanhill. He will be joined by Saskia McCracken from SGHET who will talk about the people of Govanhill that have helped shape the area throughout the decades. There will be an exhibition and the opportunity for local people to share their memories of the area. This is a free event.
