Support the Southside – be the new SGHET Treasurer

SGHET is a volunteer-run charitable trust focused on championing and sustaining the diverse heritage and environment of Glasgow’s amazing Southside, and we’re seeking a new Treasurer as we develop our programme of community heritage activities…

If you’d like to be part of a small but motivated and friendly team, taking on the role of Treasurer will ensure our finances are kept in order, which in turn will help support our stability as we expand our activities in an exciting period for the charity!

What does the Treasurer do?

Ensuring basic financial records are kept track of (receipts, invoices, grant funding, bank statements, etc), the Treasurer helps drive our local charity’s resilience.

The charity’s trustee team will work with the Treasurer to provide an outline of what is needed, and make sure they are supported at all times.

Time-wise, the Treasurer’s basic input as a volunteer – depending on your level of experience – would average 2–3 hours per month. This would vary over the year, with slightly less most months, and slightly more in the month or two before we submit our annual financial records to our external accountants.

What skills does the Treasurer need?

As part of our volunteer trustee team, the Treasurer will gather together and provide an annual financial summary to our external accountants for independent auditing by them – so accounting skills are not directly required from the Treasurer, just an organised approach.

What we’re looking for is: an ordered approach to tasks, and an eye for detail. Basic proficiency in Excel will also be needed.

Along the way, there’s optionally the chance to learn more about the Southside, attend our public events, and develop your volunteering CV in a supportive and creative community-based group.

What next?

If this sounds of interest – and you’d like to be involved as we expand our community heritage projects – drop us a line on board@sghet.com

People of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome and encouraged to contact us about the Treasurer’s role.

In turn, we offer a satisfying and exciting opportunity to make a positive difference to the heritage and community of south Glasgow!

Interested or have any questions?

Email the South Glasgow Heritage & Environment Trust on board@sghet.com and we’ll be happy to chat and discuss any queries you have.
